National Product Contact Point

Regulation (EU) 2019/515 on the mutual recognition of goods lawfully marketed in another Member State


The Greek Product Contact Point has been established and operates in the Quality Policy Directorate of the General Secretariat of Industry of the Ministry of Development and Investments, pursuant to Article 9, previous Regulation (EC) 764/2008 and Article 33 of Law 4072/2012.

Regulation (EU) 2019/515 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the Mutual Recognition of Goods lawfully marketed in another Member State and repealing Regulation (EC) No 764/2008, was issued with the aim of improving the free movement of goods in the single market and creating a fairer single market for goods.

The provisions of the new Regulation (EU) 2019/515 enter into force on 19 April 2020.

National Product Contact Points provide the following services online:

  • information on the principle of mutual recognition and the application of Regulation  (EU) 2019/515 in the territory of their Member State, including information on the procedure set out in Article 5 “Assessment of goods”,
  • the contact details, which make it possible to communicate directly with the competent authorities of that Member State,
  • the legal remedies available and the relevant procedures in the territory of their Member State in the event of a dispute between the competent authorities and the economic operator, including the SOLVIT procedure,
  • at the request of an economic operator or competent authority of another Member State, any useful information, such as electronic copies of national technical rules and national administrative procedures applicable to goods in the territory where the Contact Point is established. Also, information on whether those goods or goods of that type are subject to prior authorisation under national law,
  • respond within 15 working days of receiving the request,
  • do not charge a fee for the information they provide.
